Dear #DailyFollower,
Introduction
I hope you're having a lovely week so far. We’re almost at the end of it!
I hope your week has been productive.
Today in the Proverbs Series, Solomon shares where we get our confidence or should I say ‘God-fidence’.
Before I dive into it, let me say a big welcome to anyone reading their first #DailyFollower newsletter. Thanks for stopping by and spending some of your valuable time on this newsletter. If you have a few more minutes, check out my post on why I write these letters here and all of the letters from the Proverbs Series here - these letters share profound wisdom that sets us on paths that take us to the good life.
Now, let’s dive into our text for today.
The Text
Proverbs 3:5, AMPC
5 Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.
Proverbs 3:5, EXB
5 Trust the Lord with all your heart, and don’t ·depend [rely] on your own understanding.
Some Thoughts
Solomon encourages us (the wise), who remember and obey God’s Word, to do three things instead of relying on our own insight or understanding. He says we should:
‘Lean on the Lord with all your heart and mind.’ Leaning on God as our reliable, strong tower.
‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart and mind.’ Trusting God as our faithful and dependable Father.
‘Be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind.’ Confident that none of His good promises over us will return to Him without accomplishing His purposes.
One Question To Ponder
Where is your confidence - In You or God?
When life’s storms press on our lives like the storms that hit hard on the boat transporting Jesus and His disciples to the other side, do we lean on, trust in, and be confident in our rowing prowess to wade through the storm, or do we take Christ’s posture, trusting in God, sleeping through the storm, and waking up to command it if it’s still there after our restful nap?
Our insight and understanding can’t take us far, but when we choose to trust in our faithful Father, we know the best life’s storms can do is rage, and in the end, they would quietly pass at the Word of the Lord.
Conclusion
It is wisdom to lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with ALL our hearts and minds because our help comes from Him.
All the help we need to navigate life’s journey to our promised good life comes when we give Him ALL the control and follow His lead.
Rely on God, He never fails.
Yours faithfully,
John, a #DailyFollower.
