Dear #DailyFollower,
It’s Christmas!
Merry Christmas, fellow daily followers! I pray that you and your loved ones will enjoy the hope, joy, peace, love, and blessings that the birth of Christ brought into our world this Christmas and in the new year.
A commitment is a commitment.
I launched the first Daily Follower newsletter the day before Christmas. I committed to writing one daily so I don’t get a break on Christmas. 😁
Thankfully, I’m excited to write to my “imaginary“ audience about why we call ourselves followers.
Christ called us to follow Him, and as His followers, we celebrate Christmas with a deep appreciation.
Christ's coming gave our existence more meaning. We don’t just live life, doing what we can to make the best of it; we live purposefully, knowing that our contributions matter on a scale bigger than ourselves.
Christ demonstrated fruitfulness through His ministry in the 3+ years he spent training the first set of daily followers by coming to show humanity the way to fruitful living. Because of Christ, we understand how to be fruitful.
The most impactful occurrence in human history to date is the birth of Christ. The change in our calendaring system tells that much; we know about an era before Christ (B.C.) and an era after Christ’s death (A.D.) - just one instance of how much a difference Christ’s coming has made in human history. Because of Christ, we have a perfect example of how to live impactful lives.
The best life is a product of a meaningful, fruitful and impactful existence, and because of Christ, we can enjoy a satisfying existence in all seasons of our lives.
So, when I read Luke 2:10, NKJV, the words of the angel who appeared to the shepherds to announce the birth of our Lord and Master, I read it with a new understanding that there’s much more possible in my life than I can see today.
Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.
The good tidying of great joy is that you and I have a shot at living meaningful, fruitful, impactful, and satisfying lives. Christ made it possible.
He said it as he called the first set of daily followers, “Follow me, and I will make you…“
This Christmas, as we enjoy the festive season with our family and friends, let’s reflect on the importance of putting a pin in our frantic effort to try to make ourselves and focus on asking the One who asked us to follow Him how we should follow Him so that He can make us.
I pray that this Christmas and throughout 2025, every #DailyFollower experiences the joy that Christ gives as we intentionally commit to actively following Christ, the reason for the season. It makes a world of difference when we actively follow.
