Dear #DailyFollower,
Introduction
Happy Friday! As we wrap up the workweek, let’s take a moment to reflect on something that matters far more than any pay-check, business deal, or financial success.
The world constantly tells us that wealth is the ultimate prize—accumulate more, earn more, and you’ll be set for life. But today, Solomon challenges that thinking by presenting a far more excellent investment: wisdom.
Suppose this is your first time reading the #DailyFollower newsletter, welcome! I’m grateful you’re here. Feel free to explore the previous letters in the Proverbs Series, where we uncover wisdom for living a fulfilling life.
Now, let’s get into today’s thought.
The Text
📖 Proverbs 3:14-15, EXB
14 ·Wisdom [Her profit] is worth more than silver; ·it brings more profit [her yield more] than gold.
15 Wisdom is more precious than ·rubies [or pearls]; nothing you could want is equal to it.
📖 Proverbs 3:14-15, AMPC
14 For the gaining of it is better than the gaining of silver, and the profit of it better than fine gold.
15 Skilful and godly Wisdom is more precious than rubies; and nothing you can wish for is to be compared to her.
Some Thoughts
Wisdom is the best investment. Unlike money, which can be lost or devalued, wisdom never loses its worth. It enriches every aspect of life, including relationships, decision-making, and how we handle our resources.
Wisdom brings lasting profit. While financial success can bring temporary comfort, wisdom offers something better: peace, purpose, and the ability to make sound choices that shape our future.
Godly wisdom surpasses material wealth. The world measures success by what we accumulate, but Solomon reminds us that true wealth is found in understanding and living according to God’s truth.
A Few Questions To Ponder
Take a moment to reflect on where you’re placing your priorities. Consider these questions:
What am I investing the most time and effort into—temporary wealth or lasting wisdom?
How has wisdom (or the lack of it) shaped the outcomes in my life so far?
In what areas of my life do I need to seek God’s wisdom more intentionally?
Please let these questions guide your reflections as you evaluate your pursuit. Take some time today to meditate on your priorities and how they’ve impacted your journey through life so far.
Conclusion
Solomon’s wisdom challenges us to rethink our definition of profit. While silver and gold have value, wisdom is far more remarkable because it equips us to live well, make sound choices, and walk in alignment with God’s purpose.
Today’s challenge: Shift your investment strategy.
Instead of chasing only material gain, commit to seeking wisdom daily. Spend time in God’s Word, invite His wisdom into your decision-making, and watch how it enriches every part of your life.
Yours faithfully,
John, a #DailyFollower.
