Dear #DailyFollower,
Introduction
Every day, we are presented with choices—how we respond to people, handle situations, and live out our faith.
The world often tempts us to follow the ways of the wicked—pursuing power, taking shortcuts, and seeking personal gain at any cost. But Proverbs 3:31-35 reminds us that God has a different path for us—one of righteousness, wisdom, and honor.
If this is your first time reading the #DailyFollower newsletter, welcome! I’m grateful you’re here. You can explore the Proverbs Series for more insights on walking the wise path to the good life.
Let’s dive into today’s scripture.
The Text
📖 Proverbs 3:31-35, EXB
31 Don’t be jealous of those who use violence, and don’t ·choose to be like them [prefer their path; of life].
32 ·The Lord hates those who do wrong [The devious are an abomination to the Lord], but he is a ·friend [confidant] to those who are ·honest [virtuous].
33 The Lord will curse the evil person’s house, but he will bless the home of ·those who do right [the righteous].
34 The Lord ·laughs at [mocks] those who ·laugh at [mock] him, but he ·gives grace [shows favour] to ·those who are not proud [the humble].
35 Wise people ·will receive honour [possess glory], but fools ·will be disgraced [give off/exude shame].
📖 Proverbs 3:31-35, AMPC
31 Do not resentfully envy and be jealous of an unscrupulous, grasping man, and choose none of his ways.
32 For the perverse are an abomination [extremely disgusting and detestable] to the Lord; but His confidential communion and secret counsel are with the [uncompromisingly] righteous (those who are upright and in right standing with Him).
33 The curse of the Lord is in and on the house of the wicked, but He declares blessed (joyful and favored with blessings) the home of the just and consistently righteous.
34 Though He scoffs at the scoffers and scorns the scorners, yet He gives His undeserved favour to the low [in rank], the humble, and the afflicted.
35 The wise shall inherit glory (all honour and good) but shame is the highest rank conferred on [self-confident] fools.
Some Thoughts
Don’t envy the wicked. The world may celebrate those who cut corners or use corrupt methods to get ahead, but God calls us to reject those ways.
God blesses the righteous. While the wicked may seem successful for a time, their path leads to destruction. Those who walk in righteousness enjoy God’s favour and friendship.
Humility leads to honour. God gives grace to the humble but resists the proud. True wisdom is in surrendering to His ways, not pursuing worldly recognition.
A Few Questions To Ponder
Let’s take a moment for reflection:
Have I ever felt tempted to follow the world’s ways to get ahead?
Am I living with integrity even when no one is watching?
How can I walk in humility and wisdom today?
God’s wisdom shows us the right path—let’s choose it daily.
Conclusion
The world offers shortcuts to success, but they come at a price. God calls us to a different way—one marked by integrity, humility, and righteousness. The reward? His blessing, favour, and honour that last forever.
Today’s challenge: Choose integrity over compromise.
Commit to walking in righteousness and trusting God’s way is always best in your work, relationships, or decisions.
Yours faithfully,
John, a #DailyFollower.
