Dear #DailyFollower,
Introduction
I trust this first day of the week is off to a great start!
It’s the 50th #DailyFollower newsletter. Interestingly, we started the Proverbs Series with Proverbs 1:1 in the 40th newsletter, and we’re on the last verse of Proverbs 1 today in the 50th letter. Thanks to every reader who’s been a part of the journey so far.
If this is the first of the Proverbs Series you’re reading, I encourage you to check out the nine letters before this one; they will provide some context on the journey to this point in the series. You’ll find all the letters in this one post.
Today, we conclude our journey in Proverbs 1 with a picture of the life of one who walks the wise path.
The Text
Proverbs 1:33, EXB
33 But those who ·listen to [obey] me will live in safety ·and be at peace, without fear of injury [untroubled by the dread of harm].”
Proverbs 1:33, AMPC
33 But whoso hearkens to me [Wisdom] shall dwell securely and in confident trust and shall be quiet, without fear or dread of evil.
Some Thoughts
Those who walk the wise path with Lady Wisdom will live safely. I didn’t say that Lady Wisdom did. Since Proverbs 1:20, she’s cried and shared her hopes and frustrations, all because her audience hasn’t been paying attention to her. Now, she says, you will live safely when you listen to (hear and obey) her.
That’s not all; your walk with Lady Wisdom guarantees that you live in peace because of the confident assurance you have in her capacity to lead you on the path that ensures you live in the good life God promised you.
Finally, because Lady Wisdom assures peace and safety, there will be no need to live in fear of dread of evil, as you avoid all the troubles that come from walking the foolish path that creates the reasons for fear of injury and the dread of harm.
One Question To Ponder
Am I walking the wise path that leads to the good life?
Lady Wisdom and King Solomon have taught us what it means to walk wise paths. So, let’s reflect deeply on our current paths. Are we consistently listening to Lady Wisdom or constantly ignoring her?
The good life is reserved for those who listen to (hear and obey) Lady Wisdom.
Conclusion
So much has been said in the 10 newsletters (of approximately 2 minutes read time) dedicated to Proverbs 1, and we can summarise all these newsletters by saying:
Listen to the voice of Wisdom because when we do, we will live safe, peaceful, and dread-free lives.
There’s no better picture of the good life than a life lived in peace, safety and devoid of constant fear.
Is this a reality for you today? If not, it’s time to engage Lady Wisdom some more.
We continue to do that tomorrow in Proverbs 2, exploring additional rewards from listening to (hearing and obeying ) Lady Wisdom.
Until then, stay on the wise path.
Yours faithfully,
John, a #DailyFollower.
