Dear #DailyFollower,
Introduction
Still on waiting…
I shared my waiting formula two days ago, a simple formula with three components that always add up to waiting on the Lord.
Waiting on the LORD = Waiting in God + Waiting for God + Waiting with God
Yesterday, I wrote about waiting in God. Today, we move on to waiting for God.
What Does Waiting FOR God Mean?
To wait for someone or something is to expect a response or a result.
In most cases where we wait, we are not responsible for getting the response or result; regardless of what we do or don’t do, we can’t control when we get it.
Waiting for God means expecting to receive a response (that only He can give) or a result (that only He can enable).
In this instance of waiting, it is crucial to understand that the timing of the end of your wait is out of your control and solely in God’s control.
As humans, this kind of wait is frustrating. However, where we wait in God for God, we find the waiting season less frustrating because when we agree to wait for Him indeed and engage Him (His Word, Name, and Blood) in the wait, His Spirit releases these three gifts to us:
Divine Guidance - getting the general insight about how to navigate in the direction of desired outcomes (Psalm 119:105),
Divine Direction - getting specific instructions about steps to take towards desired outcomes (Isaiah 30:21) and
Divine Power - getting the enabling grace to take necessary actions based on guidance and direction received (Philippians 2:13)
In truth, when we wait for God, we wait for His guidance, direction and power.
Conclusion
To wait for God, one must have mastered waiting in God because only then can one truly know when divine guidance comes, understand what divine direction is, and know exactly how to exercise enabling grace when received.
Once again, we see that even in waiting seasons, we’re taking steps to engage God in the Spirit while moving in the natural, based on the guidance and direction we receive, empowered by God’s enabling grace.
Waiting isn’t passive. In God, it is active!
Tomorrow, we’ll explore the last component - waiting with God.
Till then, wait in God for God!
Yours faithfully,
John, a #DailyFollower.
