Dear #DailyFollower,
Introduction
It’s been a rainy start to my week, and while rain and winter aren’t the best combination for me, I’m glad and grateful for the gift of time and seasons. They remind me of the beauty of God’s creation.
I hope there’s at least one thing that you’re grateful for today.
Yesterday, I shared the first part of a three-part series that should help every daily follower build the engine room they need to operate as God operates - declaring the end from the beginning.
God desires that we all operate as He does, and Paul tells us in Romans 8:19, AMPC, that the entire creation is waiting in eager expectation, excitement, and earnest longing for children to begin to operate as God does.
The first step we must take as daily followers to fulfil this desire in God’s heart is to think as He does, and with that, we begin to speak as He does.
Our words are powerful. They can lead to peace, war, joy, or hurt, creating different emotions or outcomes.
Now, imagine if these words align with our Creator's desires, what amazing things our words can bring to life.
The Power in Our Words
In the Scriptural record of creation, we see a verse that attests to the power of our words.
With words, Adam defined every animal and bird; see this principle at play in Genesis 2:19, EXB:
19 From the ground, God formed every ·wild animal [animal of the field] and every bird in the ·sky [heavens], and he brought them to the man ·so the man could name them [to see what he would call them]. Whatever the man called each living thing, that became its name.
The living things became whatever Adam called them.
Things and People around us become what we declare them to be as long as our declarations align with the intentions of their Maker.
There’s indeed power in our words, but to exercise the authority they carry in a dimension where they begin to create realities, we must know the heart of the One who put power in our words.
By paying attention to thinking as He thinks, we begin to understand God’s heart.
This understanding teaches us how to speak as He speaks, just like Jesus (John 12:49, EXB).
Speaking As He Speaks
To speak as God speaks, we must first hear what he says, then repeat it to see the manifestation of the end or results we desire.
The alignment of our hearts with His heart is central to hearing God speak.
Christ’s heart was knitted to the heart of His Father, so He received a constant download of the mind of God, and because of that, He commanded sicknesses, demons, storms, and trees, and they all obeyed, delivering precisely what He declared.
As followers who desire to declare the end and results from the beginning and see our words deliver the ends and results we declare, we must learn how to knit our hearts with those of our Heavenly Father.
Revelations 3:20 provides insight into beginning and continuing the heart-knitting process. In this passage, Jesus (the One whose heart is already permanently knit with His Father’s) says:
20 ·Here I am [Look; Behold]! I stand at the door and knock. If ·you [anyone] hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and eat with you, and you will eat with me.
Heart-to-heart conversations often happen over meals, and the Holy Spirit constantly paints this picture in my mind when I read this passage.
God wants to have heart-to-heart conversations with us so that we can begin to speak as He speaks; the question is if we will open the doors of our hearts to Him so He can come in and start an unending conversation with us.
The ball is in our court. We can speak as God speaks and see our declarations bring change to situations and circumstances that desperately need it, but we must first learn to make hearing God consistently a way of life.
Doing so requires opening the door of your heart to Him and inviting Him into a conversation with you.
You then begin to declare out of the abundance of your conversation with Him, and you start seeing that no word He speaks ever falls to the ground without accomplishing what it was sent forth to do (Isaiah 55:10-12, EXB).
Key Takeaways
God wants you and me to operate as He operates.
Hearing from God is critical to speaking as God speaks.
We only repeat His words; He makes His words come to pass.
Conclusion
The manifestation of the prophetic (declaring the end and results from the beginning) is not an exclusive preserve for a class of daily followers.
It is available to all followers of Jesus. However, such followers must open the doors of their hearts to invite Jesus into an unending conversation that opens their hearing to what God is saying at every point.
This heart-to-heart conversation with Jesus enables us to speak as God speaks and shapes the world around us by our declarations to bring the end and results we desire (and God desires).
Take one more step today toward being a follower who sees God's declarations happen in and around their lives by choosing to open the door of your heart to Christ every time he knocks.
He will be knocking a lot this year; be the one who opens the door.
Yours faithfully,
John, a #DailyFollower.
