Dear #DailyFollower,
Introduction
I hope you have had a fabulous week! It’s exactly 7 days to the end of January 2025.
It still amazes me how quickly this month has passed, yet I’m excited about my start to the year. I hope you are, too.
If you’re not too excited, there’s still plenty of time to change that; we still have 341 days left in 2025, so there’s ample time to be excited about how the year unfolds.
This final part of the power of daily builds on the thoughts I started to share yesterday in my first letter on the subject.
In this final piece, I take a deep dive into the Samson story and share how to leverage the power of daily.
Now, let’s dive into it.
The Continuing Part of The Power of Daily.
Yesterday, I shared what the Scripture said about Delilah’s approach to getting what she wanted from Samson in Judges 16:16, KJV:
16 And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him so that his soul was vexed unto death;
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time someone has engaged in the power of daily to get Samson to do what they want. A few chapters back in Judges 14:17, KJV, the woman Samson was betrothed to marry leveraged the power of daily; we see how here:
17 And she wept before him the seven days, while their feast lasted: and it came to pass on the seventh day, that he told her because she lay sore upon him: and she told the riddle to the children of her people.
For 7 days, she leaned on Samson, and after 7 days of ‘laying sore upon’ him, he caved.
While these stories tell of Samson’s gradual fall from grace, they clearly show how powerful doing something daily can be.
Where we are today directly results from what we have committed to doing daily.
Is there any part of your life you want to change today? If you identify the daily actions you must take, you will achieve the change you want.
The journey of a daily follower is one of consistent change; as such, every daily follower must be committed to the daily actions that keep the change going. This process continues until we see Christ face to face and discover that we are just like Him (1 John 3:2, EXB).
Engaging the power of daily like these women in the stories I read in my devotion sets every daily follower apart in their journeys.
I know someone is asking how to engage the power of daily.
I will share how you might consider starting from my experience, but I trust you’ll partner with the Holy Spirit to work out your process for engaging the power of daily.
Engaging the Power of Daily
As a daily follower, the first thing to take note of in taking a shot at engaging the power of daily is that the Holy Spirit is central to the process.
The interesting thing about engaging with the power of the daily, as we see in Samson’s story, is that followers and non-followers can leverage the power of taking daily actions.
I say this to establish that the power of daily isn’t exclusive to daily followers. Still, when daily followers engage with it, the outcomes are transformational—for both them and the world around them.
So, how can you start the journey to engaging the power of daily?
It starts with recognising that there’s a lot more to you. Finding out how much more there is to you begins with surrendering everything you know about yourself to God so He can begin to teach you about yourself.
This is the hardest part of the process, at least for me. It remains the hardest; it’s been an ongoing journey of continuous surrender since the first time in 2020 that I agreed to commit to the journey of surrender fully.
Once a commitment to surrender1 to God is in motion, it’s time to build your system.
When building your system to engage the power of daily, I recommend starting with your spiritual growth system2. This system enables your continuous progression from daily following to daily witnessing - the state where God works in and through us to reveal His glory to the world around us.
Here are three things to keep in mind as you build your spiritual growth system:
The system must be subject to the Holy Spirit, as He must be the co-author of the system.
The system must be SMART - simple, measurable, actionable, repeatable and time-bound.
The system must have an accountability structure, as it enables you to stay on track in the growth process.
Let me share how I used these three things to build my spiritual growth system:
My 2019 dangerous prayer (I wrote about it in the backstory section of the first part of the Power of Daily) opened me up to partnering with the Holy Spirit to build my system.
I made my system simple, committing to completing a devotion on the YouVersion bible app daily at a specific time (measurable, actionable, repeatable and time-bound).
The combination of my wife and the YouVersion bible app’s streak-counting feature was my accountability structure.
Often, our barriers to engaging the power of daily life come from leveraging complicated processes. My simple system for spiritual growth has set a domino effect that has significantly transformed my life.
Submit your system to the Holy Spirit, make it simple, measurable, actionable, repeatable, and time-bound, and enforce an accountability structure. Once you do, you engage the power of daily.
Key Takeaways
Work with the Holy Spirit to build your system; start with the most crucial area of your life - the spiritual.
Ensure your system is simple (easy to engage), measurable (easy to track), actionable (easy to do), repeatable (easy to repeat every day), and time-bound (set for a specific time every day).
Make your system accountable to at least one human and a digital tracking system.
Conclusion
There are loads of possibilities waiting for us in 2025; unlocking these possibilities comes from engaging the power of daily.
Please look at the three things I shared above to start engaging the power of daily in the most important area of life for a daily follower.
I promise you that when you do, you will begin to see God move you to build other growth systems that empower you to be an effective witness who is spiritually, physically, mentally, financially and relationally sound.
Yours faithfully,
John, a #DailyFollower.

I say commitment because it’s essential to understand surrender is not a destination but a process, so the depth of surrender is continually expanding.
I started with this system, enabling me to build growth systems for my physical, mental, financial, and relational growth. You will be well served to begin with your spiritual growth system.
